What is Food Photography?

Food photography is a still life photography genre used to create attractive photographs of food. It is a specialization of commercial photography, the products of which are used in websites, advertisements, magazines, menus, packaging or cookbooks. Professional food photography is a collaborative effort, with a photographer and the restaurant. Food photography is a very specific genre, as it demands a passion and a deep understanding of the products: let's remember that ice cream melts, caramel sticks, and fresh herbs wither. A beautifully executed food image will make the viewer's mouth water and their stomach crave your dish.

As an avid lover of food, you better believe 40% of my iPhone camera roll consists of the meals that have been placed before me. Capturing the cooking process and the final presentation makes me happy to be able to call myself a food photographer.

Restaurant Photography

You need an experienced photographer who knows the kitchen inside and out, but also how to capture the architecture. As an architectural photographer I use Photoshop, supplemental lighting and image layering to achieve the best restaurant photo for you. I often have to shoot staff and patrons, the interior of the restaurant, as well as menu items. This means you need a skilled photographer in food, portraits and architectural photography to bring your project together.
